A2Z Buildtech Expo-2018 held on 24th August 2018, at Silver Oak , Patiala

Three faculty members –Ar. Sangeeta Goyal, Ar. Mehak Khurana and Ar. Parul Attri along with the students of 3rd sem and 5th sem.attended this exhibition.
Our students participated in Design Competition ( Free Hand Sketching) and grabbed three positions-
1) Gursagar Singh (3rd Sem )-1st Prize
2) Harshpreet Bawa (3rd Sem ) – 3rd Prize
3) Akashdeep Singh (3rd Sem) – Special Appreciation Award

Training Program on Punjab ECBC

Three faculty members- Ms. Sangeeta Goyal, Ms. Premjeet Kaur and Ms. Parul Attri from A.A. Department along with some students of 5th Semester, AA attended the 2 days capacity building training program on Punjab ECBC held at Hotel Uttam Residency, Patiala from 14th September, 2018 to 15th September, 2018. It was inaugurated by Ar. P.S. Ahluwalia and organized by PEDA.

Seminar

The Indian Institute Of Architects organised a seminar on “ Housing Policies :Affordable Homes” on 11th October 2017 (World Habitat Day). Four Faculty members attended this- Ms. Sangeeta Goyal, Ms. Sukhwinder Kaur, Ms. Premjeet Kaur & Ms. Mehak Khurana.

Educational Trip

Educational Trip to Amritsar,Ludhiana,Anandpur Sahib, Sirhind was organized by AA Department in April 2017 ,Ms. Sangeeta Goyal, Ms. Premjeet Kaur and Mr. Navalpreet Singh accompanied it with the students of final year students.

State Level Prizes

Anmoldeep Kaur of AA department won second prize in paper presentation ( State Level Inter –Polytechnic Tech-Fest) on the topic-Fusion of Old and Modern Architecture at Govt. Polytechnic College, Behram. The students of various departments were accompanied by the following lecturers – Ms. Mehak Khurana and Ms. Parul Attri and two other faculty members. Our college won the overall second position at the college fest.

International Conference

Ms. Sukhwinder Kaur attended World Architecture Conference-on the subject “smart cities for better world” in Dubai on April 20th and 21st April,2018

Expert Lecture

Ar. Ravinder Singh, on ‘Importance of Concepts in Design’ on 26th September,2018 in room no. 209. It was attended by the faculty of AA department and the students of 2nd and 3rd year.

Architects Meet

Ms. Sangeeta Goyal (HAAD) and Ms. Mehak Khurana attended Architects Meet, where there was a panel discussion on the topic Smart Cities Challenges in hotel Radission Bluo,Ludhiana on 24th Nov,2018. Also attended INT-EXT EXPO 2018 at Punjab Agriculture University(Ludhiana) on the same day. In the morning there was an architects cricket match between 4 different cities of Punjab and our Patiala architects team won the runner’s up Trophy.

Best Professor in Architectural Studies Award

Thapar Polytechnic College, Patiala has been selected as the recipient of the Education Leadership Award. For the past twenty six years,the Business School Affairs & Dewang Mehta National Education Awards has celebrated and awarded the institutes, individual achievements in the field of education whose lasting contributions have shapes the way we conceive of education today. The award was presented on 31st December, 2018 in an award ceremony held at hotel Redisson Blu, Amritsar. Also Ar. Sangeeta Goyal Head of Architecture Assistantship Department of Thapar Polytechnic College, Patiala was awarded with the Best Professor in Architectural Studies.

Science Fair 2019

Science fair was held on 31st Jan.2019 and 1st Feb. 2019. Students exhibited their models in the fair and the following positions were bagged by the students-
• First Prize- Automated Car Parking for Dignitaries-6th sem.
• Second Prize-Weekend Cottage (4th sem)
• Third Prize- Working of Sewage Disposal System of a House (4th sem)

Judgement of Debate competition

Ms. Sangeeta Goyal (HAAD) judged the Debate competition for students of ITI’s from different cities of Punjab, on three sessions-
Session I on “Energy Efficiency in Industry”. It had 16 students.
Session II on “Energy Efficiency in Agriculture”. It had 14 students.
Session III on “Energy Efficient buildings”. It had 14 students.

• Ms. Sangeeta Goya (HAAD) attended the State Level Principal’s Meet ( on behalf of Principal) on 26th Feb. 2019 at Chandigarh University , Gharuan , Mohali, Punjab and got the certificate of participation for participating in the workshop on “Industry Academic Interface- Scope and Challenges for Diploma Engineering”

Expert lecture by Ar. L.R. Gupta and his team, on ‘Water Proofing in Buildings and Different types of Glass with its application in Modern Era’ was held on 8th March, 2019 in room no. 209. It was attended by Principal Sir, the faculty of AA department and the students of 4th and 6th sem.

Tree Plantation & Cleaniness Drive

Patiala Architects Association and IIA Patiala organized Tree plantation and Cleanliness drive dedicated to “550th Parkash Utsav of Guru Nank Dev Ji” on 30th August,2019 at Central Library premises. Two faculty members- Ms. Sangeeta Goyal(HAAD) and Ms. Mehak Khurana from Architecture Assistantship department contributed for it.

ICT Course

• ICT Based STC on “Curriculum Implementation” was held at Thapar Polytechnic College, Patiala from 23rd Sept, 2019 to 27th Sept, 2019 organised by NITTTR, Chandigarh. It was attended by Ms. Sangeeta Goyal (HAAD) and Ms. Premjeet Kaur (Lecturer AA).

A poster making competition was held on 4th Feb. 2020 in room no.209 on the topic- SAY NO TO PLASTIC.
1st Prize was bagged by Gursagar Singh of final year.
2ND Prize was bagged by Vaibhav Sethi of final year.
3rd prize was bagged by Shubham Joshi and Harshpreet Bawa of final year

A Placement Drive was organized on 26th Feb,2020.Ar.Indu Arora ( Space ,Art and Design Studio) visited and interviewed the final year students.---offer letters were given by her.
